A STORY WITH A TWEET ENDING

One  fine day, Rik was delivering a pontoon boat from where it had been stored to Havey's Lake via the highway.  (The boat had been dry docked)

Arriving at the Harvey's Lake boat launch he was meet by a volunteer who was inspecting boats for any aquatic invasive species...Upon inspection the volunteer found a foreign object on the boat.   Calling it to Rik's attention, both were astounded at what they saw.

A robin had built a nest under the deck of the boat on one of the pontoons.  Peering out with beaks wide open were three tiny baby robins...  Both were amazed that these little ones survived the ride down the highway.  The chicks appeared to be in fit condition,  looking  unharmed  and seemingly without any feathers being mussed up.

Realizing these babies were tough little guys who needed help, Rik carefully removed the nest and placed it on the front seat of his truck.  Shortly after delivering the boat to its owner, he returned the nest to the same area, from whence it came from.

He felt strongly that the mother robin was still in the area and would return to feed her hungry chicks....If they had not been discovered and rescued, they would no doubt now be floating on Harvey's Lake and so to speak been "Up the lake without a Moma".

Great Job!
Thanks Rik!
