Texturing Color Process

I use a process of applying modeling paste freely and liberally to a dry canvas and selecting assorted tools to urge color through it to mold and sculpt interesting patterns to form the ridges whereby subsequent brush strokes will collect paint color.  I allow each newly emerging surface to dry then I use thin water washes that work to unify and open the space for oil glazes in a repetitive layering process. Clearly visible in the detail images and texture clips of the "On Bangor Daily News" painting are ridges and valleys that seem to want to exist in the surface itself whereby the image and indeed the very color itself, for me, become an embodiment of some sensouse sculpture.
