Sabratha is a finely preserved Roman city 50 miles west of Tripoli. It was constructed in the 1st and 2nd centuries AD. Sabratha was destroyed in 365 AD by an earthquake. The highlight of the remains is the stunning Roman Theatre -- beautifully set by the mediterranean sea. Sabratha’s ruins include temples, public baths, fountains, and other structures.
