Tactile Stimulating Activities

 

tactile perception is the ability to distinguish various objects through touch and pressure

  • play in sand, water, cotton balls, beands etc with hands
  • create a texture box with various textures in it: soft, rough, smooth, crinkly, grainy (sand paper)
  • finger paints
  • cooking is very tactile; let them use their hands!
  • "draw" letters on each others back or hand
  • "pretend" to "swim" around the room then "dry off" with a towel, have child rub his or her own arms, legs, face, back and stomach
  • play the Feel and Find Game or make your own
  • play in any type of "fun" texture like shaving cream, oatmeal wet or dry, finger paints, salt, sand etc
