The WINTERWORKS
hand cut paper designs with their theme of insects, animals and trees are available framed in shadow boxes for wall or tabletop
display.
The paper used is handmade from silk, mulberry,
banana and various other materials, depending on what strikes my fancy. The textures imbedded in the paper impact
the cut designs in unpredictable and interesting ways. The mulberry leaves in particular are very beautiful, as
the fine veining in the leaves becomes a part of the images.
The paper cut is pinned to the fabric lining of the shadowbox so
that it is suspended in space. Stainless steel pins are used to hold it in place in the same fashion that
insects are displayed by entomologists.
As with all handmade items, variations
and imperfections are what make the original hand cut designs unique.
