The term ShrimpEye gets its original derivation from an unlikely source. In the beginning of the term's development, it was used in Gentlemen's Clubs. It was used to describe "gentlemen" who went with the sole purpose of looking at the lovely ladies that were dancing and thought they would be clever and not pay for their glares. In all of the these establishments, looking at the dancers is always encouraged. But let's face it, the women are not there because they simply want to be looked at. They are there to make a living. The gentlemen in question would sidle up next to, or behind a paying customer and get the show for nothing. They were guiltly of ShrimpEyeing. They had other names of course....Lurkers, sniffers, and just plain cheap bastards.
As the term caught on in these clubs, it gathered a more mainstream meaning. Any guy that is caught gawking or staring at a woman a little too long or has no regard for the fact that she is with someone else is guilty of the ShrimpEye. We've all seen them. You're out with your woman and some guy is eyeballing her up and down. Dude. She's taken. Quit ShrimpEyein' my girl.
Girls, you've been a victim and you know it. You're at the mall. Some guy is staring at your breasts and you're watching him the whole way. He never even once has the balls to make eye contact with you. And then as you pass by, he swivels around to see the back side. Damn. You just got ShrimpEyed!
And ladies. You've all been out at the bars and some guy is trying to hit on you and he's making more eye contact with everything but your eyes as he stammers to swoon you back to his place for a easy score. But you know he's a ShrimpEye. The closest he'll get to your bedroom is right where he's standing.
But why the term ShrimpEye? It actually is a double entendre. Big word, but translates into having two meanings in one. The literal sense is that he's eyeballing you from a distance with a creepy glare. But to break it down. The Shrimp stands for the obvious which is "Little." The eye, represents the reference to the 'third eye' which is the "penis." From this we get "Little Penis." These guys are nothing more than guys with little dicks. No class, no manners, and no chance with the women.
Real men don't ShrimpEye. They treat women like they should be treated. Just remember gentlemen, it's okay to look....Just don't ShrimpEye.
