The Marineland Emperor 400 HOB (hang on back) filter is one of my favorites. It is fairly quiet except when the water level gets down. It's reliable they just seem to run and run and never need parts. It's easy to set up and prime and moves allot of water for a HOB.

The filter uses a bio wheel for biological media and can be customized to hold just about anything. You can add chemical, mechanical or biological media.
