August 6, 2008 Meeting

Thomas Allain updated the committee on the new program "Quarters for Kids" or "Q4C" as we call it in the sub-committee. The Maine State Golf Association (MSGA) has endorsed this effort which will be a TEAM effort with the MSGA, The Maine Elks Association district and local MCCP Chairman and our Committee.

This program targets Maine golfers who use coins to mark their golf balls once they arrive on the green. It is estimated that 4 million rounds of golf are played in Maine each year! This program has potential to raise significant funds as well as awareness for the Program.

Joanne Payeur updated the Committee on the very successful Garden Tour. If anyone is interested in obtaining a copy of the slideshow that Nancy created, see Nancy for the CD.

The Auction Committee is now accepting donated products, gift certificates, crafts, etc. for the Live and Silent Auction to be held on Sept. 5th. "Item Information Sheets" and "Introduction Letters" will be available at the Lodge and at the next three meetings.

The deadline to have items listed in the event program is the Monday before the event (Sept.1)

If you know of a Vendor (Restaurant, Caterer, etc) who is interested in participating in this years contest, please inform Kate or Steve ASAP

There will be a $5.00 donation request to participate in the Chili & Chowder tasting and judging.

Bill Bourque reports that golf applications are coming in slow, so if you know of folks who have not sent in their application forms and money, talk with them and convince them to act now, rather than later, as the entry is first come, first served.
