Welcome to the website of Maine I, the founding chapter of this great organization called the BLUE KNIGHTS.  Maine I currently has about 35 members from numerous law enforcement agencies in eastern Maine.  Some of the agencies represented include active duty and/or retired members from Bangor P.D.; Brewer P.D.; Bucksport P.D.; Calais P.D.; Ellsworth P.D.; Hancock S.O.; Maine State Police; Maine Warden Service; Orono P.D.; Penobscot S.O.; Piscataquis S.O.; Millinocket P.D.; Augusta P.D.; Newport P.D.; Probation and Parole; U.S. Border Patrol and transfers from Old Bridge Township, New Jersey P.D. and U.S. Dept. of Justice, New York.

Our Chapter meets once a month at various locations within our area for a Chapter meeting. During the riding season we have chapter rides as often as there is interest.  Various members participate in numerous charity rides throughout the summer.

If you qualify for membership, and would like more information about joining Maine I, or any other chapter of the BLUE KNIGHTS, please contact either me or Maine I Secretary/Treasurer Frank McGillicuddy. Our email addresses are posted on the Chapter Officers page.

Thank you for visiting our new website. Our Chapter Webmaster, David Randall, has put in a lot of time to get this up and running.  Please give us some feedback as to what you liked, disliked. Etc.

The Blue Knights® is a non-profit fraternal organization consisting of active and retired law enforcement men & women who enjoy riding motorcycles. In the Spring of 1974, several law enforcement officers* from the Bangor, Maine (USA) area met and and formed a small, local motorcycle club. The rest, as they say, is history.

Soon, Blue Knight chapters were being formed in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and beyond. With the addition of Canada, and later Australia, the Blue Knights became an international organization.

*Our Founding Fathers are: Joel Rudom, Bill Robinson, Doug Miner, Ed Gallant, Mike Hall, Chuck Gesner, Wayne Labree, Chuck Shuman

As of 1 June 2009, we have 599 chapters and almost 20,000 members in 29 countries.
