One of my biggest interests is in classic arcade games from the 1970s and
1980s, the golden era for the arcade experience. I dropped many a quarter on those old games, favorites like Qix,
Asteroids, Space Invaders and QBert.
With the ever-increasing power of the PC, it's now become possible to emulate
those games on your computer using a free software program known as MAME, the Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator. This
allows some 3000+ classic arcade games to be played with full fidelity, particularly if a cabinet is built to replicate
that arcade feel! That's what I did with Mamiac! Read more about that with the links listed below.
Of course, there's nothing quite like the real thing, and I was fortunate
enough to be able to acquire my favorite game of all time, the evil Sinistar.
Produced in 1982 by Williams Electronics, it was perhaps the most difficult arcade game ever released. Its spoken
taunts to the player, and the psuedo-3D appearance of the Sinistar, pried many a quarter from my grasp as I attempted to defeat
that nemesis. I've recently purchased 2 Sinistar machines, and I'll be highlighting those below as well!
