VERMONT RETIRED STATE EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION, INC.

    A meeting of the Trustees of the Vermont Retired State Employees Association, Inc. was held at the State House, Montpelier, VT in Room 41 Wednesday, June 6, 2012. President Cornelius Reed called the meeting to order at 9:30 A. M.

The following officers and trustees were present: Cornelius Reed, President, Allen N. Blake, Vice President, Cedric Smith, Secretary, Vivian Butler, Treasurer, E. Hale Ritchie, Joe Healy and Otis & Kennedy, Lobbyist. Absent: Wayne Calderara, Patricia Patch, Roger Dumas, Roderick Maclay, and Michael Wiater. We were very pleased to have Cynthia Webster attending our meeting.

Lobbyist: The letter that Lobbyist, Otis and Kennedy, passed out at the May 9, 2012 meeting, written to the Secretary of Administration requesting the Retired Employees' Committee on Insurance, contemplated by 3 V.S.A. Sec. 636 be revitalized and convened by the Secretary as soon as reasonably possible contains the changes/revisions to be made in the third paragraph was passed out to the VRSEA board members. The letter, with the changes/revisions, was approved.
    Theo Kennedy passed out their report on the Vermont 2012 End of Session Legislative Report to the Board members. Theo also passed out H.559: Final Sections-by-Section Summary as passed by House and Senate. This report will be placed on our Web Site for all to read.

The Secretaries Report:The minutes of the May 9, 2012 were approved by a motion made by Allen Blake and seconded by Joe Healy.

The Treasurer's Report: Vivian Butler passed out the Treasurer's Reports for May and June 2012. The dues are coming in very good and we are gaining some new members too. On a motion by Cedric Smith, seconded by Allen Blake, the Treasure's Reports were accepted.

New Business: President Reed named a Special Committee consisting of Cedric Smith, Allen Blake and Hale Ritchie. This committee is charged with coming up with some ideas to make our Annual Meeting more interesting, VRSEA Board Policies, ideas on contacting our members and any other ideas the committee wishes to suggest about VRSEA, Inc.
    Joe Healy had some additional suggestions pertaining to the notices sent to our membership. To help with the cost, maybe it is time that we have a few underwriters such as Home Depot, Wal-Mart, McDonalds, Edward Jones, Great West, Granite Association, Credit Unions and Washington World. Joe Healy, Allen Blake and Hale Ritchie to meet and come up with more ideas for underwrite the cost of our mailings.
    Our next News Letter will go out in July and will include the notice of our annual meeting. Included in the July News Letter will be the end of the year report and the names of VRSEA, Inc. representative and alternate on the State Retirement Board.
    Cynthia Webster was present and she contributed a lot good advice to the meeting.

Adjournment: The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 9:30 a. m. in Room 41 at the State House, Montpelier, Vermont. On a motion by Allen Blake, seconded by Joe Healy, adjournment was 10:45 a. m.
