"The coalescence of form, function, and art."
Steven's Raku Pottery reflects his passion
for texture, for form, and for illusion. Each piece is unique--a treasure in clay.

A wonderful gift, the "Wish Keeper" form is based on a Chinese legend
where placing a written wish inside a closed vessel causes the wish to come true. Embelished with flame shaped ceramic
lids or hand wrought copper metal lids, each is unique. Some "Wish Keepers" feature designs carved into the
clay to create a shimmering sensation in the light. starting at $45

Steven's imposing forms allow the flames of the firing to make contact and show off the resulting
color variations on a large surface area. Two variations of his glaze formulation are represented here along with
one "horse hair" piece. The vessels above and above left feature his highly textured glaze which literally boils
and bubbles in the firing and lends an ancient feel to the pieces. The form at left is unglazed and bears the imprint
of horse hair which was pressed and fired into it. The vessels below have a smooth sleek texture
and one was carved while the clay was not yet dry. Vibrant colors vary widely with cool tones of copper, blue,
green, and even silver or warm tones of copper, sage, yellow, and russet. Pieces shown start at 10 inches
high and $95.
