If the Library does not have the book I am looking for, can it get the book
from another library?
Yes. Registered Borrowers in good standing may request books through InterLibrary Loan (ILL). Interlibrary loan borrowers must agree
to observe the rules of the lending library and are liable for paying for replacement of any lost or damaged materials.
How many books can I borrow and for how long?
First-time
borrowers may check out 2 items owned by our library; full borrowing privileges take effect upon return of those items.
Each borrower receives a receipt showing the title of the material borrowed and
the due date. Most library materials may be borrowed for two weeks and renewed, if no one is waiting for them.
Shorter loan periods may apply to materials in high demand, to equalize opportunities for access.
Does the Library have fines & fees?
The Library is a shared community resource. We ask borrowers to return
materials on time so that others may use them, too. There are no fines or fees for overdue items. Lost or damaged
materials are billed at full cost. Repeated failure to return materials or pay for replacements may result in loss of
borrowing privileges until the matter is resolved.
Does the Library have any community meeting space?
The second floor of the Library includes a meeting room, which also serves as
the museum display space for the Waterbury Historical Society. The museum may be visited when the Library is open.
There is no elevator.
Nonprofit community organizations may reserve the meeting room for uses that
do not interfere with the functioning of the Library. The use must be during Library hours, and space must be left in
the condition it was found. Please call the Library, 244-7036, to discuss requests for the use of the meeting room.
Does the Library have collections for book groups?
Yes. The Library has bags of multiple copies of certain titles for loan
to book discussion groups called "Book Group in a Bag." Please inquire at the circulation desk for a current list of
available titles.
