LATE NIGHT....now even later.....
I was finished with the blog but hit the back button instead of the done button so now I have to re-type the blog because
when I tried to come back, the blog was erased. Farglesnot.
Switched a couple of pictures because I wrote so much Thursday night about Joey Laquerre, I gave him a shot at Picture
of the Day.
Started watching the Busch race, then switched to Bill Maher's show on HBO. Great Show. Go to HBO.com, then go to Real
Time With Bill Maher, then click on New Rules for some insightful laughs.
Caught the end of the Busch race. Ryan Newman won. I'll miss the Nextel Cup race because we'll be a Bear Ridge.
Couple of tragedies this past week involving people I know. My heart and thoughts and prayers go out to them and their
families.

MEMORIES OF RACERS PAST AND A RACER'S PAST
Today's pictures from Airborne 2003 contain some memory for me.
Brent Dragon is the son of Beaver Dragon, who recently was set to race at Airborne or Thunder Road. Beaver was the first
Vermonter to win a race at Catamount Stadium way back when. Beaver beat Hector LeClair for the 1979 NASCAR North Championship.
Joey Laquerre has been around a LONG time. I first heard of him when he was racing in the old mini-stock class
at Catamount. Those were VW Bugs that were made into race cars. We're talking 1970's here. Put a bunch of those out on the
track and it sounded like a swarm of bumblebees. Engines were in the back like a regular car, with an exhaust pipe that came
up and out at a 90 degree angle above the engine. Fun to watch.
Check the links on the right of the screen for the Catamount Stadium link for some pictures of mini-stocks and the NASCAR
North/ACT History link to relive the '79 season.

MORE FROM AIRBORNE
Day two of pictures of the 2003 Fall Finale at Airborne.
Bear Ridge Saturday. May be going to The Fair on Sunday. Should I take my camera? I would need to take pictures of things,
not people, in case someone gets upset.
I need to make up some cards with the website address on it. I do not see myself getting it changed to something more
reasonable anytime soon. Back in the 80's I made up some business cards stating I was a sports card collecter. Got a bunch
left. Something to work on.

AIRBORNE 2003 AND FXFD CALCUTTA
Hmmmm......that's an odd combination.......
Went through the pictures and found some from the Fall Foliage Finale at Airborne in Plattsburgh back in 2003. This was
the day after Elizabeth's wedding. Anthony and I went over as Anthony helped out Eric Chase and Scott Dragon. I took pictures.
Derek Lynch was Anthony's hero growing up. Derek was driving for Pard Bros. Racing in the early 90's. Brian Latuch and
Karl Osha were the Pard Bros., and Carl and Anthony would go over to the shop and help out. Anthony really looked up to Derek,
whose number was 15.
When he played baseball, drove go-karts, and moved up the racing ladder, Anthony always had #15 in honor of Derek.

BOTTLE OF KETCHUP
I won't repeat the ketchup pun.....
The Knoxville Nationals is the Indy 500 for Sprint cars. It is the biggest race of the year. Kraig's father Steve Kinser
has won the race many times. Now the son has won.........
Sorry I am lazy with original pictures, but the last two nights I have been watching a mini-series on the National Geographic
Channel called "Inside 9/11". Excellent. Goes year by year, the rising up of al-Qaeda, and then moment by moment of September
11th. Really good.....
I will try to get some original pics up Tuesday. Really need to do some hunting and scrounging around for pictures........
Historical Society meeting went really well. Thanks to everyone who came. Thanks to Elaine Kirkpatrick for having us.
Check Henry Raymond's website-vtgrandpa.com- for pictures.(Link is on the right.)......
