CHICKEN PIE SUPPER
Wow. I sat down with a plate of food at the United Church's Annual Chicken Pie Supper and thought, oh my gawd, my
eyes are bigger than my stomach.
Uh, I think you should know better, Uncle Mike. Your stomach will always be bigger than your eyes.....
I finished it all. Ugh. Stuffed.
Good stuff, though. Great job by everyone involved.
A new sprint car series has been formed to compete with the World of Outlaws. The National Sprintcar League has been
formed by Petty Enterprises. Tony Stewart has signed on with the new league as a car owner and track owner. Stewart owns Danny
Lasoski's car pictured above. 13 of the WoO top drivers has signed with the new league, including Steve Kinser, Kraig Kinser,
Tim Shaffer, Joey Saldana, Brian Paulas, and others.
The Outlaws make an annual trip to Lebanon Valley Speedway. How many people are going to show if the guys like Kinser,
Lasoski and Saldana aren't there?
This battle will be interesting to watch.
Talked to Margie a couple of times on the cell phone. She and Kim are having a grand time as I suspected. She'll be home
Sunday night. Rex will be happy. He misses her.

WATCHING RITA
Watching Rita make landfall into Texas and Louisiana......
Not sure how late I'll stay up and watch.
Chicken Pie Supper Saturday night in the Elementary Gym at school. I will be doing some building coverage.
Happy Birthday, Margie! I'm sure you are having a great time.
It's currently 45 degrees out. I covered Margie's flowers with a couple of sheets. They're calling for frost. Yeeeesh! I
hope they're wrong.

ON MY OWN....
.......for the weekend.
Margie headed for New Hampshire Thursday morning. She and Kim Ward are attending the New Hampshire Scottish Highland
Festival. Margie goes every year. Bagpipes, kilts, more bagpipes, tartans, clans, sheep dogs, drums, and even more bagpipes.
Margie usually has a grand time. She took the digital camera so I hope to get some of her pictures posted next week.
Hope she lets me. I'm on quite a streak of old pictures.
Like today. I'm guessing the picture is 1997. They started building the elementary wing in 1998.
Rita figures to make landfall a strong catagory 3 or 4. And of course, the oil companies wet themselves over the possibility
that Rita could damage the refineries in that area. On the news, I thought I heard prices could jump to 3.75 a gallon. Steeple
Market was 2.94 at 10:30 Thursday morning. Price Watch has begun.

BLAST FROM THE PAST
Took a picture of the Champlain Flyer when it was in operation back in 2002. I was down in Burlington, just walking past
Perkins Peer on the bike path, when I heard the train coming. There was talk back then of shutting it down so I snapped a
picture of it.
Because I work nights, I do not get to watch prime time television. However with KTLA out of Los Angeles off the satillite
dish I can watch WB shows. I found a good one. "Supernatural". One of the producers used to work on "The X-Files". It's really
good.

ME THOR!
There is a great "BC" comic strip where the one guy named Thor, gives a Tarzan yell and swings through the
air on a rope, and lands in front of The Cute Chick and proclaims, "Me Thor!". She just looks at him and replies, "I thought
tho, the way you were thcreaming."
Had a visit to the dentist today. Was supposed to have a crown done, but instead had a new procedure where they are able
to insert a porcelin piece and it looks like your normal tooth. Cerac, or something.
Push, pull, drill, my jaw is sore. Ibuprofen to the rescue........
Today's picture is of the Cambridge Fire Department at the State Firefighters' Parade in Rutland last year. With the
racing season over, I'm going to try to have Tuesday's Picture of the Day be a fire/rescue picture. I've got plenty of them.

A FIND!!!
I knew I had it somewhere. Suddenly, I came across it. The Picture of Jean Paul Cabana taking the final checkered flag
at Catamount. So I scanned it into the computer, then thought, hmmmmmm.....
So I scanned it again and cropped it. Nice. A little blurry, but I caught the moment. The Picture of the Day is the cropped
photo, the actual one is on the side.
Thanks to Wayne and Sally Sweet for coming today to help at the museum. I had scheduled today(Sunday) to be a work day.
Things were so busy this past week, I didn't call anyone or have Henry send out an all call, so I wasn't sure if anyone remembered.
Wayne and Sally did. Got the sign out front fixed. A "C" in "Society" needed repainting. The carpet on the front steps were
removed. Sally vacuumed while Wayne and I hung some sap spouts that Carolyn Murray and her daughter, Chris, donated. They
are mounted on old barn boards. Very nice. Check them out the next time you stop in.
I'll probably be at the museum next Sunday, Sept. 25.

EVERYTHING'S UPDATED
I updated all the results and points on the SCONE page.
There were 9 races total this year.
Near as I can figure 5 drivers made all 9 features. Mike Kondrat missed the opener. Mark Cole missed the 2nd of
a double feature to a blown motor. Tunk Berry missed a Canaan show for a personal committment.
The only ones to run them all were Anthony, Si Allen, Clay Dow, Riki Likowski, and James Hanson.

TRYING TO MAKE SENSE OF IT ALL
Not sure we ever will.........
To go from leading the points all year to having it all plop at the last minute doesn't make sense.
I did the math wrong at the track- Anthony will finish 2nd at Canaan, third overall.
It's just a case where you have a series where 8-12 cars show up each event. Regular points are a 2 point difference
per position- 50 for 1st, 48 for 2nd, 46 for third, etc, so if you have a good night and finish 2nd or 3rd, and your closest
competiter has a so-so night and ends up 5th or 6th out of 10 cars, you might gain 4-8 points on the night. Or vice versa
and you lose 4-8 points on the night.
If you look at the results on my 2005 SCONE Page, you will see the same 6-8 drivers ran every race, and there were not
many races to begin with. If you look at the final tally, it was a tight finish.
Just don't understand why it had to happen THAT night. Double points.
I will have the results and point totals up shortly.
