For those looking for the previously announced Uncle Mike's Scrapbook........I am guesssing September before it gets

VICTORY NUMBER 2
Anthony won his second race Friday night down to Canaan, NH. Once again, there were double features to make up for all
the rainouts. #58 Clay Dow won the first one. Anthony finished fifth. In the second race, Anthony got by 6X Mark Cole on a
lap 11 restart and absolutely checked out, winning by a straightaway. Man, he looked good.
I will try to get all the results and such up on the SCONE page later today.
Historical Society meeting Sunday night. It was actually on the Coming Events on WCAX at noon Friday. Woo-hoo!!

ALBURG(H)
Today we venture to Alburg, or Alburgh, Vermont.
Back in the 90's, Margie was a regular with the Fairfax-Fletcher-Westford Band. For a while she played drums, for a while
she conducted, for a while she played clarinet or flute.
I tagged along as her "roadie". This was especially helpful when she played drums. We would have to lug the drum case
all over the sapworks. Got to go to a lot of places, though.
One place was a July 4th parade in Alburg. it was always quite the gathering. I thought today's pictures were 1991, Margie
says 1993, because she was playing the flute. She just had her wisdom teeth out a couple of weeks before and clarinet would
have put too much pressure on the back of her jaw.
Went everywhere-opening ceremonies for the Champlain Valley Fair; Old Home Day in Belvedere, Fireworks at Smugglers'
Notch, a parade near the Fanny Allen Hospital.
It was a lot of fun.

BURLINGTON WATERFRONT
These are relatively old photos. Dug these out when I found some pictures from 2000. I was down in Burlington when there
was talk of what to do with the old Pease Grain Tower. Do this with it, do that with it, tear it down. Tear it down won. I
do have some shots of them dismantling it. I'll have to find them.
Also took some shots of the Champlain Flyer when that was running.
Good idea, the Flyer. They just went the wrong direction. Should have ventured to Essex instead. If we were a European
country, we would have more trains. Fast ones at that. Instead we are taught to rely on automobiles. Keep the auto makers
and the oil companies happy.
Racing at Canaan Friday night. Full moon. This should be fun.

TRAINING
Apologies for the blurry picture. They were coming down through when I pushed the button and the camera had to autofocus
and all that......
Had a joint training session with Fairfax Fire and Fairfax Rescue Tuesday night. An ATV accident was simulated and everyone
went through the drill as though it was real to see how long things took and to see how communications would go and just for
a chance to have all of us work together. It really went well.
Wish the picture came out better. But like I said, they were moving right along with a "patient" and you can't really
ask them to stop and pose for a picture...........
If anyone was listening on a scanner and came in halfway through and thought there really was an accident, "This was
a test of the Fairfax Emergency Services. This was only a test."
OK, time for bed. I'm starting to get silly..........

UNDER THE GUN
If you are reading this, I got it uploaded before the lights went out.
Three more pictures from the 2000 St. Johnsbury Convention. The rescue sled was entered in the apparatus competition.
Judges actually went around with white gloves. We were entered in a rescue catagory but didn't win.
DJ is now down on Cape Cod. He is a graduate of NECI, the culinary school. Great kid. Miss him.

ST. JOHNSBURY 2000
Today's pictures are from the VSFA Convention in St. Johnsbury in 2000. The pictures of the museum were taken while getting
ready for the muster or getting ready for the parade. I'm guessing the parade.
I remember going there in 4th grade back in.......oh,gawd.......1970?
Too long ago.
I am currently still looking through all my stuff for pictures to post.
I need to do some hoeing out. This from a packrat.
Thanks to Henry for doing the museum this week.
Next week is the annual meeting. Election of officers. Doug Webb will talk about Town Government and how it has changed
before his eyes in the last 40 years.
Crunch time at school. Two weeks to get everything done. We have to do it.
