REC PATH PAVED
Posted for Saturday August 5th.........
The rec path was paved Friday. Very nicely done. Congrats to everyone involved.
Rex always walks ahead of me and ends up getting in the pictures.
Sure looks alot different from when I was a kid. I've spent a lot of time down there.
I will put some pictures up on Henry Raymond's site at some point. I will try to get some shots of the May 20th floodwater,
then when it receded, then the rec path. That will be interesting.
Not sure on weekend plans. You'll find out about then after they happen as I will take my camera with me.

YEAH!
Posted for Friday August 4th........
Def Leppard made a name for themselves back in the 1980's with a trio of albums- High 'N' Dry, Pyromania, and Hysteria.
Hits include Bringin' on the Heartbreak, Photograph, Foolin, Rock of Ages, Love Bites, Armegeddon It, and Pour Some Sugar
On Me.
Now in 2006, they have put out an album of covers of songs by bands they were influenced by. Bands and artists, like
T-Rex, David Bowie, Blondie, Mott The Hoople, Faces, Badfinger, and more.
If you grew up in the 70's and listened to the radio, and bought rock albums, you need to get this for your collection.
The album is called YEAH! and that will be your reaction after hearing some of these songs. T-Rex's 20th Century Boy-you will
recognize it when you hear it. It sounds like T-Rex. When I saw the video for their cover of David Essex's Rock On, I thought,
why? After listening to it and reading why they chose it, they did a great job with it.
Debbie Harry and Blondie had a small hit, Hanging on the Telephone, which Def Leppard simply blow up.
They saved the best for last. Stay with Me, the Rod Stewart/Ron Wood/Faces classic has been turned into a masterpiece.
Phil Collen, normally a guitarist, takes a turn at lead vocal and pulls off a great Rod Stewart in ONE TAKE. Vocalist Joe
Elliot does a turn on a Fender guitar and does Ron Wood proud.
Some songs you won't recognize, but others, you will sit, listen, smile and shout.....
YEAH!

EARLY POST
Posted for Thursday August 3rd...........
Posting early because we have some storms coming.
I had about 6/10ths of an inch of rain in the raingauge from early Wednesday morning, plus another 2/10ths Wednesday
afternoon.
No telling how much we get after this is all over.
Tuesday night, after the business meeting, I spent quite a bit of time out in the parking lot at the firestation watching
the show north/northeast of us. That went around us.
The show at 4pm did go through. Couple of close hits.
10:20pm and it has started raining but that's all.
Stay safe.

HAVIN' A HEAT WAVE...A TROPICAL HEAT WAVE
Posted for Tuesday August 1st............
Went to Burlington Monday. Walked around a bit, did some shopping.
Man, am I tired. I need a day off to recuperate from everything.
Today's picture was taken at Perkins' Pier. More firetrucks tomorrow.
August already.
Try to stay cool. Eating a popsicle always works for me. Unfortunately, I don't have any.
Sounds like southern Vermont will be heated up the worst.
Hey, my pipes don't freeze in this weather.
No one suffers from heat stroke in the middle of winter, either.

YOU JUST NEVER KNOW............
Posted for Monday July 31st...........
Things happen when you least expect them.
Today was the VSFA Parade. Matt Gillilan was scheduled to drive Engine 1 in the parade, but there was not going to be
enough people for a marching unit. I had wanted to march in the parade, but last week couldn't find anyone else to help carry
the banner. I was able to be a borrow a flag harness from the school, to march in front of the truck carrying the American
flag.
This morning we were getting ready when Dan Vanslette decided to ride with Matt in the truck. Dan brought his son along,
and Matt brought one of his kids, as well.
So, away we went, rolling down Main Street in St. Albans, lined up behind Enosburg's trucks. The route was from
Fonda's to CCV.
Had a great time, saw some Fairfax people, and others I knew.
After we got home, I heard over my pager, Justin Hayes was trying to get hold of Matt Gillilan on the radio. Justin
had stayed for all the apparatus judging and parade awards and got a surprise.
He ended up bringing home another piece of hardware for the trophy case.
Second place for Best Appearing Apparatus and Marching Unit went to Fairfax Fire Department.
One firetruck with one guy-me-marching in front, carrying the American Flag.
Second place.
Cool.
Sometimes you just never know............
