BUSY SATURDAY
Poster for Sunday October 1st.............

Heading for bed early. Long day.

It started out sitting at the table and I could hear this strong wind blowing. But the wind wasn't blowing. Or a raging fire sound?
A BALLOON!!!!
Grabbed the camera and went out and took some picture of it coming down near the senior citizens housing in back of school.
Cool. Headed back for the house....
ANOTHER ONE!!!
That too, landed near the first one.

Then it was off to the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Rec Path. Have no idea how I got tagged as the official photographer, but the shot I took came out great. Some still cutting, others already cut, and ribbon floating in the air.
Congratulations to Carol and all the members of the Committee. A lot of work went into what they did. Path looks great. Field, too
Then it was off to the Bike Fair in the back parking lot at school.
For a slideshow of some of the pictures I took, go to:

Beautiful day. Wish it could last.

Rain or shine, I will be at the Museum Sunday from 2-4. I need to pick out some photos for the Union Bank calendar.

THE DOCTOR IS IN!!!
Late night. Got home from work, then watched both episodes of Docor Who. Fantastic.
In all the hub bub going on, I completely forgot the season premiere of Supernatural Thursday night. I've got to see if it available on-line.

I will be going down to the ribbon cutting ceremony for the rec path Saturday morning around 9:15 or so. I will have pictures here and on Henry's photo gallery on Sunday.

Speaking of Sunday, I will be opening the museum on Sunday from 2-4pm.

INTERRUPTED!!
I was typing along last night....Tuesday night just after midnight...when my pager went off and we had a fire call. Accident call, but I finished typing and published what I had so I could respond.
I meant to add more music stuff.

In a complete 180 degrees from traditional Scottish music comes one of my favorite artists.
Weird Al Yankovic
He's back, and still one of the most out-and-out clever-ist people in the entertainment business. Who else could take Don McLean's "American Pie" and turn it into a Star Wars song- "The Saga Begins...".
The new album is Straight Outta Lynnwood. Go to:
to listen to the first single "White 'n' Nerdy". It's a parody of the song "Ridin' Dirty". Or scrool down to watch the video. You'll really like it if your a Donny Osmond fan. Or even if you aren't.
He's taken James Blunt's "You're Beautiful" and made "You're Pitiful".
The one I can't wait to hear is "Canadian Idiot", a send up of Green Day's anthem.
Ol' Weird Al leaves you with a smile on your face.

MORE MUSIC STUFF
Margie is a groupie for a band out of Scotland called Albannach. They used to be members of Clann an Drumma, but there was a split and most of the members of CAD left and started this new band.
Most of what they play is traditional music once used to get the soldiers riled up before going off into battle. Heavy percussion and bagpipes.
All the members know Margie and are always thrilled to see her.
Actually, I should say Margie and her friends, Kim and Terry are groupies. Margie and Kim even went southern New York State for a festival because the old CAD was going to be there.
Once again, I should have had Margie write something up about the band.

SHEEP DOG TRIALS
All NH photos by Margie Cain........

I should have had Margie write something up about the sheep dog trials at the Scottish Highland Festival.
There used to be a very popular show on the BBC called A Man and His Dog. It was sheep dog competition. The dogs go out and try to herd the sheep back to a pen.
The movie "Babe" was about a pig that thought it was a sheep dog. Got nominated for Best Picture if memory serves me correctly.
Anyway, the owner commands the dogs by whistling. Whistling at different pitches makes the dog do different commands. The dog herds the sheep around a couple of posts and into a pen.
I guess there was one dog at the Festival that was really good, and it was only two years old. Most dogs get really good at three or four.
When Margie watched it on TV, Rex would always watch as well, because he would react to the whistles and watch the sheep and the dog running around.

ODDS 'N' ENDS
Margie's back from New Hampshire. She had a great time.

This past weekend was supposed to be a rainout. It actually wasn't too bad. Sunday was really nice. There was supposed to be a big race over to Airborne Speedway in Plattsburg on Sunday. Because the forecast was so lousy, it got cancelled on FRIDAY!! Bet they're second-guessing themselves now.

I do apoolgize to everyone involved for not promoting the United Church Chicken Pie Supper this past Saturday night. I did building coverage for them and helped out in the kitchen. Wayne Sweet washed some of the bigger pots and pans and I dried them. Great meal. A lot of people worked really hard on this and I should have mentioned it a couple of times last week.

Two people stopped in to the museum Sunday. We're open Oct. 1st and the 8th.

This past weekend was the annual Harvest Festival over in Underhill/Jericho. They never have great luck with the weather.
I used to go over with Margie when she would play in the FFW Band.
