2008
And away we go...........
Margie was at a party. Rex had gone to bed. So it was Prospero the cat and I welcoming in the New Year.
I had my bottle of Welch's Grape Soda as Dick Clark counted down to midnight. After taking a swig or two of the soda,
I headed outside to hear concussions from all the fireworks around.
I could hear booms coming from the west around 9pm. Fairfax could have their own fireworks display on New Year's Eve.
Have it early so the kids could watch.
A lot happened in 2007, and 2008 promises to have it's share of excitement, what with the elections and the Olympics
and more.
Remembrances and a look ahead tomorrow.
Happy New Year, everybody.

OUT AND ABOUT
Posted for Monday December 31st..........................
New Year's Eve..........Goodbye 2007.......Hello Election Year 2008.....Hang on......
The picture from Saturday of the fading snow was taken off I-89 between the St. Albans exits.
Sunday, Margie and I went down to Williston. I was walking to Best Buy when I spotted the plane, but when I finally got
the camera out and snapped a picture, that's what I got.
The wild one was on the way home.
We spotted three hot air balloons. The power lines and trees were always in the way, so when she stopped to get gas at
Five Corners, that's when I took the picture.
Then as we headed out and got closer to The Essex Cinemas and shopping center, we realized there was a fourth balloon.
Brrrrrrr...............

FOOTBALL SATURDAY
Football was on our TV a lot Saturday. Mostly the stuff from England that WE call soccer. WE as in the people of the
U.S..
Margie's team lost. Her other team won.
And while everyone else was watching the Patriots game, we were watching a match from earlier in the day-Tottenham vs.
Reading.
Normally soccer games are 0-0, or 1-0, or 1-1, or something like that.
Reading was up 2-1 when there was a burst of SEVEN goals in a span of 22 minutes. The final was Tottenham 6 Reading 4.
Back and forth, some good goals were scored. Dimitar Berbatov scored four goals for Tottenham. It was quite the game to watch.
We then switched over to WCAX and watched the end of the Patriots game.
I agree with Cris Collinsworth. The Patriots have to win the Super Bowl or the 16-0 regular season doesn't mean much.
I'm not a Patroits fan.
I'm a Raiders fan.
Which means my season's over around Labor Day.

I WAS ON TV!!
Posted for Friday December 28th..................
I mentioned yesterday how I was walking through University Mall and saw Rachael Morrow of WCAX and her cameraman. What
I didn't realize was that I made a cameo during her report.
Seriously, I never saw her until I was walking by and spotted the cameraman moving the camera off the tripod.
In any case, go to
www.wcax.com, and scroll down the videos they have, and click the video called "And Many Happy Returns".
Thanks to Brian Farris and Bob Kimball for pointing that out.
