HERE WE GO AGAIN........
A hunter spotted in the woods near MVU in Swanton resulted in a three hour lockdown of the school.
Not sure if I am overtired, or I can't deal with the seriousness of the world events, but I came up with some humorish
thoughts Friday night while I was working. Whether they remain funny as I write them down, remains a mystery, but I'll try.
I am glad I am not a child, or grade school age, in the world today, if I had the same mentality I had when I was a child.
I would literally be a basket case.
Bomb threats. School shootings. Terrorist attacks. Lockdowns.
What's the kid's name on South Park? Tweek? The kid that's nervous and jumpy all the time. "NO! I can't do this! Too
much pressure! AAAUUGGHHH!!!"
When I was a child I took everything seriously. I was never a happy-go-lucky-kid.
Music concerts would have my stomach tied in knots.
I was a lot like Tweek.
There is a command given if there is an intruder at school-"Clear the halls!". That means, if you are out in the hall, you
go to the nearest classroom, and basically hunker down.
Clear the Halls? I would have cleared the campus, at full speed, sceaming "MOMMY!!!" all the way home.
Hunker down in a classroom? I remember who I went to school with. I know for a fact that a couple of my classmates would
have been in their glory to add to the panic.
Teacher: "We have to be quiet!"
Classmate:" Hey! I just heard a gunshot!"
Teacher: "No you didn't! Be quiet!"
Another classmate: "Can I go see what's going on?"
Teacher: "NO! BE QUIET! If you keep making noise, they're going to come in here and start shooting us!" ( I had a teacher
who would have actually said that. Resulting in.....)
Me, with my head in the wastebasket: "GAAAAAACK!!!"
All the girls: "EEEEEEEEEEEE.......!!!!!!!"
The clear the halls command has been given. I know of a couple of kids that would have gotten out of their desks and
headed for the door.
Teacher: "Where are you going????"
Classmate: "I want to see who's out there."
I remember a few years back there was a bomb threat for almost a solid week, one everyday. I would have been pleading
with my parents to let me stay home.
Terrorist attacks?
Classmate: "Gee, Cain, maybe they'll blow up our school."
Me: "Do you really think so?"
I would need to take a Valium everyday just to go to school. That would have done wonders for my grades.
Teacher: "Mike, who is President of the United States?"
Me, comfortably numb: "Gunga Din?"
All I'm saying, is that it must be tough being a kid these days with everyone on edge. Not exactly easy being an adult,
either.

ODDS AND ENDS.....AGAIN
I'm watching Supernatural-I remembered!!-so I'm updating the site during commercials.
Brrr........guess we'll have some frost on the pumpkin Friday morning. Oh wait...we don't have a pumpkin yet. Margie
has her flowers covered up.
So much for updating during commercials. I wanted to be sure I didn't miss anything so the last half-hour, I stayed on
the couch.
Great show.
Heroes on NBC looked interesting, but didn't tape the first one, so I'm out of luck there.
Doctor Who Friday night!!!
Had about half an inch of rain in the raingauge from Thursday.
Nice looong stretch of sunshine. Enjoy it.
Should be able to get some shots of the foliage. Don't see the vibrant colors. Maybe a frost or two will help. Looks
a little dull at the moment.

KIT PAQUIN
Jessica Hayes stopped me Wednesday at the Pharmacy to fill me in on Kit Paquin. Jess and Kit have kept in touch via e-mails.
The daughter of Ed and Pat Paquin, Kit got the locals all excited a couple of years back, when she landed a role on the CBS
soap opera, Guilding Light. The role only lasted a month. Kit kept at it though. If you go to Google and type in Kit Paquin,
there are quite a few links to some of the things she did. Recently she had a role in The Lion in Winter on stage. Oops. Can't
remember where.
A couple of years back, she was in a short film about a photo processing place where a male worker developed a crush
on a woman in a photo, unaware, that his female co-worker(Kit) was interested in him. Think that's how it went. Sounds interesing.
Unfortunately, Kit's name also pops up in soap opera forums where some viewers were not too happy with Kit's performance
on GL.
Give Kit credit, though, she has stuck with it and it's paid off. She is now in Los Angeles.
And the big news is.........
You can see her three times this month in guest-starring parts in three different shows!!
She will be in CSI-NY on CBS Oct. 11th.
Then Ugly Betty on ABC on Oct. 19th.
Then back on CBS on NUMB3RS Oct. 27th. Guess this is a real juicy role according to Jess.
Congrats, Kit! Good luck!

SPIRITS IN THE MATERIAL WORLD
When an Amish school is not even safe from a school shooting, something is very wrong.
Why now? Why all of a sudden?
There was a string of shootings back in the late 90's. Arkansas. Oregon. Then the horror of Columbine in Colorado. Things
calmed down after that. It was like the kids who were thinking of doing something similar, were horrorfied by it.
Now we're back into it. And it's adults getting in on the action, too.
The only thing I can figure out is there are alot of evil spirits that have risen up and decided to reek havoc on the
place.
I do not remember anything Biblical about the end of the world involving the slaughter of children. (I think there's
something about false prophets and an Anti-Christ.)
The whole thing just doesn't make sense.
It has school officials everywhere on edge. Trust me, I know. I work at the school and they're very concerned.
Where will it happen next?
Maybe some good spirits can rise up and get a handle on things. Something.

DOCTOR WHO UPDATES
Not sure if anyone out there is watching Doctor Who, but if you are.......
I found a clip that ties together "The Parting of the Ways" and "The Christmas Invasion". It's what happens right after
the Doctor regenerates in POTW and ends just before the start of "Invasion".
It's under six minutes long and if you want to see what I get so excited about Doctor Who, check out:
Also, the BBC has a spin-off of Doctor Who called "Torchwood", set to air in Great Britain later this month. It's about
a team that uses alien technology to solve crimes, both human and alien. Captain Jack Harkness is back to lead the team.
As soon as the site for it is up, I will let you know. We probably won't see it in the US until late next year at the
earliest.

SUPERNATURAL
I LOVE THE INTERNET!!!!!!!!
I mentioned a couple of days ago, that I missed the season opener of Supernatural, a series I really like that was
on the WB which is now the CW.
Anyway, for the past couple of days, I have been hunting around Supernatural fan sites and forums to see if the episode
is available on-line. Lo and behold, I found it. Someone taped it, then uploaded the show in six parts-minus commercials-to
YouTube.com. Six parts in all, but I got to watch it. Really great.
Now I just need to remember to turn on KTLA at Midnight on Thursdays to get the new episodes.
Where would we be without the Information Superhighway? How did we get along without Henry Raymond's daily news and notes?
Or Jayski's NASCAR site of up-to-the-minute news and rumors?
Or Chris Santee's FranklinOne site with all the political goings on. (You're leaning a little to the right, Chris. OK,
a lot. Journalists should stay in the middle.)
I love checking the ESS site the morning after a race to see who won.
And Mike Lauterborn's Sprint41.com is one of my first stops of the day.
Of course, without the internet, I actually might get to bed at a decent hour instead of staying up until midnight to
make sure my site is up to date.
I know Margie would be lost without the BBC's live reporting on all the football matches. Uh.....soccer games. And Rex
would never have been featured as the Daily Puppy.
Instant information at your fingertips. TV shows you may have missed, too.
