SHORT TOWN MEETING
Posted for Sunday March 4th..........................
Don't know what it is, but man, am I tired at night. That's why I've been posting early.
1:59pm and Bernie Keefe recessed Town Meeting until Tuesday at 7am. I was very surprised at how quick it went. The school
board took just over an hour. Then the selectboard took over, and including a lunch break, took a little over two and a half
hours.
Everything passed, even the Cemetery Commission thing that I wasn't really in favor of, but when it was explained out,
I did support.
Henry Raymond has all the important pictures from the day at his site:
Congratulations to all those honored.
Great job by the Ladies Of the United Church. Sandwiches, homemade donuts, cookies, and more. Mmmmm.....good stuff.
Today's photos do not do the sight justice. It was beautiful out Saturday morning with all the snow sticking to the trees.
One of those things where you had to see it live in person.

VERMONT WEATHER
Posted for Saturday March 3rd.................
Well, they called it. We were in the 3-8 inch range and that's what we got. 3 inches. An inch and a quarter by the time
I got up Friday morning.
A very yucky, sloppy walk up the hill to get the mail in the afternoon.
Come 9:30 at night, and I was shoveling the driveway under a full moon-lit sky.
Go figure.
Maybe hitting 40????? Saturday.
And then Tuesday back in the freezer.
Sigh.
Town Meeting Saturday morning.
Going to bed early, so that I get enough sleep so I don't nod off during the budget presentations.
The Ladies of the United Church always have coffee, donuts, and sandwiches. Mmmmmm........I can taste the homemade donuts
already.

IN LIKE A LAMB
Posted for Friday March 2nd...................
Meteorlogical Spring began Thursday. And a nice day it was.
What was 8-16 inches has been downgraded to 3 to 5 to 8 to 10, depending on where you live. The official measuring
stick is ready and waiting.
We set up for Town Meeting Thursday, because we'll probably be shoveling show Friday.
New month. New archive page.
I took a picture of the back lawn around 4pm Thursday. Will take another one Friday at 4pm to see the difference.
Stay safe.

WIN SOME, PART 2
Posted for Thursday March 1st......................
I don't want to give the impression that all home playoff games are lost.
One of my favorite memories was the time in the early-mid 90's, when it poured the day before Teachers' Convention. Home
playoff games were scheduled for Thursday and Friday. Thursday was spent getting hundreds of gallons of water off the Varsity
Soccer field. We got it done, though, and a double header was scheduled for Friday.
Got the field ready, and the boys' playdown game was first.
I had the small tractor and roller and was positioned next to the home bench. I was able to sit and watch the games and
then went to work at halftime.
At halftime, I had enough time to roll the penalty areas of the field. The boys went on to victory. The girls' quarter-final
game was next.
Between games I had enough time to roll the entire field, flattening out divots, and smoothing out the chewed
up parts. At halftime of the girls game, I again rolled the penalty areas. The girls also won that day.
A great day. Cold and drizzly, but still a great day.
March. Vermont's unofficial Fifth Season.
We'll see what happens Friday.

WIN SOME, LOSE SOME.........
Posted for Wednesday February 28th.............
The winter sports season at school is now officially over. The Varsity Boys lost to South Royalton by two Tuesday night.
I wonder if anyone noticed the job that was done spiffying the place up for the game. Floors were waxed. Walls were washed.
And then they lose.
Oh, well.
Not the first time.
Back when I was on days and doing outside work, I used to get a field ready for a playoff
game, get everything looking great, and then the team would lose. One time, it rained the night before. The baseball field
was soaked. Worked all day getting water off the field. Massive effort to successfully get the field ready for game time....then
the baseball team lost.
I did my job.
Like Tuesday.
We did our job.
I am very tired of waking up to eleven below zero every morning.
Warms up to low-thirties during the day, but plumments at night.
Brrrr......
That's almost a 45 degree difference.

MORE ODDS 'N' ENDS
Posted for Tuesday February 27th................
We continue to get below zero readings at night. They don't forecast them, but we're getting them.
Town Meeting Saturday at 10am in the Elementary Gym. And for the first time in a lot of years, I will not be doing building
coverage. Bob does coverage on Saturdays, so he'll be doing it. I can come and go as I please.
NASCAR now has black boxes on all the cars, so if there is a wreck, they can decipher what the g-forces were and whatnot.
David Reutimann's crash late in the race Sunday had the highest readings they've recorded. He's OK, but had the wind knocked
out of him. He could be seen slumping over the steering wheel after the wreck. He was conscience, but simply couldn't
breath.
Congratulations on the Varsity Girls Nordic team. State Runners-up. Three girls teams got state runner-up title this
school year. Girls Cross Country, Cheerleading, and Girls Nordic Skiing.
I do realize there are a couple of boys on the cheerleading team, but you tend to think of cheerleading being a girls
sport.
Place will be rockin' Tuesday night. Boys home playoff game vs. South Royalton. 7pm.
Along with Town Meeting this weekend, there is the St. Albans Rotary Expo at the Collins Perley Complex. Friday 2-8,
Saturday 9:30-6pm, Sunday 10-4. Five bucks to get in.

THE ENVELOPE, PLEASE...................
I wanted to get some fresh photos, so I headed down River Road. Ended up making the loop around the Falls.
Matt Kenseth wins at California Speedway.
The Departed gets Best Picture, Director, among others.
An Inconvenient Truth gets Documentary and Best Song for Melissa Etheredge. I need to see that movie.
Late night. Early morning.
Working days this week.

MORE RACING STUFF
Interesting picture taken from River Road. I am hoping Sunday is warmer so I can go out and take some pictures.
Big Bigelow of the Caledonia Record out of St. Johnsbury, writes a weekly column about local racing and NASCAR. It's
called "Strap In".
Makes for interesting reading for us race fans. He has a weekly trivia contest where if you get it right, your name gets
put in a drawing for a T-shirt. I have a T-shirt, as I won one of the trivia contests a few weeks back.
Here's a link to his latest column:
Dave Moody has a blog of local and NASCAR racing as well.
He is track announcer at Thunder Road, as well as works for MRN, and has a show on Sirius Satillite Radio. He has some
insight on Sunoco's unhappiness over Kevin Harvick's double win at Daytona. Sunoco is official fuel supplier of NASCAR. Harvick
is sponsored by Shell.
