ONE WEEK
Posted for Sunday March 25th.....................
One week ago, it snowed in upwards of a foot and a half.
It's all gone. Most of it was gone a few days after it snowed. A warm wind in the forties and it all melted.
Tom Lavallee is at Bristol for the races this weekend. He sent me some pictures via his cellphone. He will take some
Sunday afternoon during the big race. If any come out pretty good, I will post them here.
I will miss the start of the race Sunday. Historical Society meeting at 2pm in the library. Should be a good session.
I guess the moles are back. Once in a while, they turn up after the snow goes. I don't try to get rid of them. I doubt
I can. I will just go out and rake the dirt around a bit. Rex is always interested in the piles because he can smell the moles.
He starts digging the holes to get to them, resulting in larger holes in the lawn, and a dirty face on the dog.
When I was out back taking pictures of the dirt piles, there was a large flock of birds in the willow tree next to the
rec path, and man, were they hollerin'. Must be on their way back from winter vacation. Or stopping at a rest area before
heading farther north, or where ever.......

STUFF
March Madness is down to the final eight teams and I have got six of them. If all goes well, come Sunday night, I hope
to have three of the Final Four teams. Watch the wheels come off my ride this weekend.
Crash and burn, baby.
NASCAR Nextel Cup at Bristol this weekend. The Car of Tomorrow has become the Car of Today. Ought to be interesting to
see how this works out. I've got Kurt Busch to win Sunday in the Miller Lite Dodge.
Went up and got the mail Friday. Did a lot in the morning. My knee was some tired by afternoon.
One thing about it. I've been catching up on some reading. Yes, they've been comic books, but I had a big pile stacked
up.

WIND!!!!!!
Posted for Friday March 23rd....................
One thing I forgot to mention yesterday, was all the videos on YouTube posted by Chris Santee and others.
WOW, did the wind blow Thursday. Three or four inches of snow between our house and Parsons was gone by late afternoon.
Even the five foot snowbanks have shrunk by 6-8 inches. 50 degrees and a southerly wind does alot of damage to the snow. Fine
by me.
Still out of work with the knee. I think it's getting better. I do need to try and start using it in a limited capacity.
Friday I will go and get the mail. I won't fly up, I will take my time. Sure have gotten a lot of Z-Z-Z-Z-Z-Z-Z-Z's in, and
have gone through a small pile of comics.
Just wish it would get better, so I can walk normal.

SMALL WORLD
Posted for Thursday March 22nd................
The internet has definitely made the world a smaller place. This is no more evident than hearing about all the former
Fairfax residents who have moved away, yet can keep up to date with what goes on in town.
I got this link about fire hydrants popping up out of the ground from such a person.
This person says they keep up to date by reading the St. Albans Messenger online and by visiting Henry Raymond's site
and my site.
There are so many ways to stay in touch. You can watch the morning and noon news on WCAX's site. There's the Messenger,
like I said, and the Free Press. You get daily pictures of Fairfax on my site. More and more people are adding content on
Henry's forum. And Chris Santee tries to keep up to date at the town office.
The internet- your home away from home.

FIRST DAY OF SPRING
Posted for Wednesday March 21st. Got mixed up on the dates. Somehow thought Tuesday was the 21st. Must be the drugs,
uh, er, medications..........Just kidding........
First full day of spring and it will greet us with a damned cold handshake. Sharon Meyer was predicting -9 for Morrisville
and -14 for Saranac Lake for overnight lows. I think we'll be closer to Saranac Lake. At 11:40pm it's 3 above.
Slight setback on the knee. I sat down and bent the knee too much. Need to keep it straight.
Reminder of the Historical Society meeting on Sunday. 2pm at the Library. We're talking about the old New Hampton Institute.
Man, I'll be glad when I can be out and about and walking around.
I took today's picture last Thursday or Friday before the snow came.
As long as I can remember, we had a problem with frost heaves in that area. Back when it was a paver block entrance,
in the spring, it would rise up a foot. Must be a water pocket or something under there.

IMPROVEMENTS
Posted for Tuesday March 20th........................
I now "hobble" instead of "limping badly".
I was able to make phone calls to people about Sunday's Historical Society meeting. I do apologize if I left a message
and sounded a little loopy.
The first weekend of March Madness is over. I'm not doing badly. I was not optimistic after the first day. I was 9-7
Thursday. I did well Friday, going 15-1. Of the eight projected winners I have this coming weekend, seven teams are still
playing. It could be a good weekend. It could be a nightmare.
-3 Monday morning. -10 Wednesday morning???? I thought we were over all this stuff.
Man, listen to that wind blow.

OUT OF COMMISSION
Posted for Monday March 19th..................
Pain pain pain pain pain pain.
My left knee has been bothering for a couple of weeks and has not really gotten better. Got worse this weekend.
Margie drove me to the emergency room out to Northwest Sunday night.
Inflamation from a maybe a slight cartiledge tear.
Got some meds and now I'm out of commission for a few days.
Thanks to EVERYONE from the Northwest Medical Center for taking care of me.
This, however, means a long standing record of mine is now broken.
10 years and 2 months of not calling in to work because I was sick is over. Seriously. That long. I have never been
sick enough to call in sick. Used personal days and vacation days for other things, but have never been so sick I had to call
in.
So, I guess I will be laying low for a few days. Or...laying in bed or on the couch. Catch up on some rest and some reading.
I just hope my knee gets better.
I kinda need it.

SNOW.....A BLESSING, I GUESS
We ended up with just over a foot of snow Saturday. 10 inches by morning, then a couple more during the evening.
I liked it better when the temperatures were in the 40's and 50's and a warm wind was blowing.
However, if those were the temperatures and it rained instead of snowed, we might have had problems. The Lamoille River
had already risen up into the pasture near the rec path because the river was jammed with ice. Add an inch of rain and that
would have meant A LOT more water. No telling what the result would have been.
Formula One has begun in Australia. Kimi Raikkonen took over for Michael Schumacer at Ferrari and won. Fernando Alonso
moved into Raikkonen's old ride at McLaren and finished second. Alonso's rookie teammate, Lewis Hamilton was third.
