HOME IMPROVEMENT
Posted for Sunday August 12th.................................
Margie and I are in the process of having the bathroom redone.
As a result, the Fairfax Historical Society meeting usually scheduled for next week will be put off until September sometime.
Thinking the program will be a look at how Fairfax has changed since the 60's and 70's. The history book goes until the mid-70's.
Maybe we can get some information updated. We'll be looking for anyone 40 years old or older for imput. I'll let you know
when things get closer.
Much celebrating Saturday. Any screaming you might have heard was Margie. Her Newcastle team won it's opener, 3-1. One
guy did a backward somersault kick to score a goal. She's happy.

FOOTBALL SEASON
Posted for Saturday August 11th............................
It's football season in England. It's called soccer over here. The English Premier League starts Saturday. Hopes and
dreams are high. Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Margie's Newcastle gear up for a long season.
They don't take too much time off over there. The season starts in August and ends in May. Three months off, so to speak.
Football over here goes September to January.
Baseball goes April to October.
Hockey goes October to June.
Basketball is about the same.
The only long season would be NASCAR Nextel Cup, going February to November. They have three months off as well.
Speaking of season's starting. The fall sports season at BFA begins Monday with the first practices.
Summer is definitely almost over.

MORE PICTURES FROM THE LAKE
Posted for Friday August 10th.............................
Some more shots from last weekend's foray over to South Hero. It was such a gorgeous day. I apologize for not remembering
the name of the marina as you finish crossing from the Sand Bar into South Hero. There were a lot of people at the beach that
day and I tried to get a wide angle shot, then crop to get as clear as I could, to let you see how crowded it was. And as
we were crossing over a boat was flying along in our direction.
Guess it might be another nice weekend.

MORE DRIVE-BY PICTURES
Posted for Thursday August 9th..................................
Sorry this picture is tilted. I took it out the roof of Margie's Tracker coming back from St. Albans a week ago. I am
not smart enough to go into photoshop or something to adjust it. I will try another picture sometime.
The temperature sure dropped Wednesday night. Makes for good sleeping weather.
For daily goings on in town on things I may not mention, always check out Henry Raymond's forums:
and Chris Santee's site:
I'm sure Chris will have updates about the Country Pantry being closed.
Where are people going to eat breakfast????????
Coming soon to Fairfax...................McDonalds??????
Boy, I hope not. I would gain so much weight.

COLONIAL ROAD FIRE
Posted for Wednesday August 8th............................
Big doings in town Tuesday afternoon. Fire in a car port on Colonial Road. Much damamge, but it could have been worse.
Henry Raymond came and took pictures. I got permission to use the one of Duane, Paul, and I for today's picture. That's
a really good picture of me.
Notice the BFA t-shirt. I left work to go to the fire. Thanks to everyone at the school for letting me do that.
Henry has a slideshow of the pictures he took.
Also, a Mike Walker sent in some pictures to the Burlington Free Press. Those show some of the flames the guys had to
battle. Notice one picture of a firefighter bent over with their hands on their knees. Those guys were beat. Hot humid day
and that fire was a hot one.
Dave St. Pierre was there, so expect pictures in Wednesday's Messenger. Not sure if anything was on the WCAX news yet
or not.

MORE TROPHIES
Posted for Tuesday August 7th...............................
The Fairfax Fire Department muster team brought home three more trophies from the Franklin County Field Days Muster on
Sunday. I do not have times, but I saw the trophies at the station Monday night.
They won:
1st Place-SCBA Endurance
2nd Place-Midnight Alarm
3rd Place-Portable Pump
I am sure at some point, the times will be listed in the St. Albans Messenger. I will then post them on Henry Raymond's
forum.
Monday night was a good flashlight-turned-lightsaber night. Man, was it foggy.

PICTURES FROM GRANBY
Posted for Monday August 6th...........................
Autodrome Granby has pictures posted from the ESS show last weekend. A bunch of pictures of Anthony's car up against
the wall, and one of him being interviewed by Jean-Paul Cabana. There is a video, but is of a modified wrecking.
There are some shots of the car during practice. Click the right arrow button under the big picture of Jeff Cook #10.
Not sure about you, but the page doesn't like to scroll down very easily. Must be them.
Update from yesterday:
Robby Gordon WAS banned from racing at Pocono, because of actions in the Busch race at Montreal. Kurt Busch won the Pocono
race.
The FIA was not happy that everyone from McLaren was putting up a smokescreen about what happened during qualifying,
and that was the reason McLaren did not get any constructors points. Say what you want to the media, but be tranparently honest
to the FIA. Lewis Hamilton won the race, but team honcho, Ron Dennis, didn't do much celebrating because he was so drained
from all the tension between the two drivers.
