Fundraising Effort Gets BACAS Close to Goal
The Board of Directors of the Bucksport Area Cultural Arts Society would like to extend our appreciation and offer a hearty
thank you to all who have helped support the new auditorium. Because of your gracious contributions, we raised enough to meet
our first goal of installing an air conditioning system. This system was installed in time for the inaugural performance
of the Bucksport Community Theater's Music Man in the summer of 2004. We were also able to purchase a
new set of wireless microphones, which arrived in time to enhance the sound of the Bucksport High School Drama Club's 2004
performance of Once On This Island. During the summer of 2006 we were able to make some sound and lighting
improvements as well as add a bulletin board that was hung in the lobby of the auditorium.
Our future goal is to add additional stage curtains and to continue to enhance the sound and lighting systems. Adding
to these systems will allow future performances to be enjoyed to their fullest potential without having to rent additional
equipment, as has been done in the recent past.
Our loftiest goal was to purchase a grand piano, something we are proud to say we are in the process of.
On May 19, 2007 we were able to add a Kawai grand piano to our stage and it was introduced at the Bucksport High School's
spring concert. BACAS entered into a purchase agreement for this beautiful instrument and are now trying to raise
enough money to keep this piano on our stage.
