Sharon R. Lagasse, CD(DONA), Certified Doula

Sharon is a DONA certified Birth Doula and has been practicing since 2005. Throughout the years she has often been found at the bedside of nearly every family members' and every friends' birth and is always honored to be invited to one of the most beautiful and special days in a woman's lifetime. She feels very strongly that every expecting mother deserves to have unconditional emotional, physical and spiritual support throughout her pregnancy, and especially during labor and delivery, as well as after the birth. Sharon believes in having options in childbirth, including using the services of a doula in addition to the doctor or midwife to provide labor support. In working with expectant mothers, her passion is to ensure that every individual involved is treated with dignity and respect.

Sharon spent many years caring for children in many types of settings, as well as working in leadership roles. After the birth of her first child, she was motivated to make the move to stay home and be with her family full time.

Later, after attending so many births Sharon decided to study to be a doula through the Doulas of North America, which credentials participants via a mix of theory and study, practice, and supervised births. Sharon has also been educated by Westbrook College and various other trainings and seminars.

Sharon has numerous community supports for her doula work and is listed on the www.DONA.org webpage. She currently divides her time up with Doula clients, her family, and her current position here at Counselinc.
