Our Philosophy

Of Mission:

" Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." (1 Corinthians 10:31)

Our highest goal as believers is to glorify God.  In practical terms that means that all our activities must reflect His character and attributes.  There are many movements and ministries which may have good intentions, but seek to minimize doctrine in the name of unity or evangelization.  We must kindly disagree and separate ourselves unto a holy God Who demands our holiness.

Of Ministry:

"11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:" (Ephesians 4:11-13)

My job as pastor is to equip the people in the pews so that they can do the work of the ministry and fulfill the Great Commission.

Of Music:

"Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;" (Ephesians 5:19)

Music in the believer's life must not be focused on what people like, but on what God likes.  God-honoring music doesn't need to be boring or stale, but neither should it be indistinguishable from the world's music which is designed to please the flesh.

Our History

Originally named "The Church of the Open Bible,"  our church was planted by missionary pastor Norman Gibbs in 1975.  In the early years it met in the Grange Hall in Ascutney, the Lord blessed and the church moved into its current building on Cemetery Road in 1985.  After the Lord took Pastor Gibbs home in 1995, the church went through some difficult times.  The Lord's hand of preservation was evident however and God's people were faithful.  In 1998 they called Forest Page to be their pastor.  In 2005 the name was officially changed to "Open Bible Baptist Church."

Our Pastor

Pastor Forest Page was called to Open Bible Baptist Church by the Lord in September 1998.  Pastor Page was raised in the little town of Weare, New Hampshire.  He attended High School at Trinity Christian School in Concord, New Hampshire, where he met his wife Rebecca (Mundy) Page.  Forest and Bekki graduated from Pensacola Christian College in 1993; Forest with a degree in Bible, and Bekki with a degree in Secondary Education.  They both served on staff at PCC for three years before moving back to New Hampshire.  The Lord allowed them the privilege of working in a rural ministry with Pastor Steve Whitmore in Hill, New Hampshire for two years.  While in Hill Forest had many preaching and teaching opportunities and led music, while Bekki assisted in the Patch the Pirate Club.  It was at Hill that they became acquainted with Pastor Bruce Michaud of Baker River Bible Church.  Pastor Michaud and others were helping out, what is now, Open Bible Baptist Church while they were without a pastor.  Pastor Michaud asked if Forest would be willing to "fill in for a couple of weeks."  That was in August 1998 and the rest, as they say, is history.  The Pages live in Claremont, New Hampshire, just over the river from Ascutney.  The Lord has blessed them with three wonderful children: two boys, Nathanael, and Matthias; and a little girl, Felicity.
