Visit W3Schools is a website for people with an interest for web technologies and the source of the browser statistics graphed here. This fact indicates that the figures below might not be 100% realistic. It is clear however that Firefox has penetrated the market (36.3%) while Internet Explorer, versions 6 (33.2%) & 7 (21.0%) still dominate the market.


4. Monitor size is typically indicated by the nominal length of the diagonal of the monitor. Actual viewing area of CRTs are typically an inch shorter than the quoted diagonal. For LCD displays the quoted diagonal is the same as the viewing area diagonal.

Given that 54% of users have pixel dimensions of 1024x768, they should have 15 or 17 inch monitors to be able to properly view web pages at the resolution (72 dpi or 96 dpi) of their operating systems.
