Job Descriptions: It is necessary that everyone volunteers in some capacity throughout the summer!
TEAM COORDINATORS
Make sure all jobs are filled in order for a meet to
run efficiently. Jobs are assigned before start of
season and posted as a schedule. Need 2 people.
TIMERS
Positioned in groups of three at each lane to time
each swimming events using stopwatches. Need about
8-10 per meet. Head Timer will organize timers as well
as serve as a backup watch. Position can be shared
during meets
SCORE TABLE
Tallies the results of each event, keeps a running
score for each team throughout the meet, gives final
score to each coach and calls the Free Press after
home meets with final meet results. Need 2-3 people.
RUNNER
Collects all swimmers’ time/event cards from the
timers after each event and turns them in to the
scorekeeper table at home meets. Need 1 person.
OFFICIALS
1. Starter: announces events, calls swimmers to
starting blocks, starts each event with starting gun.
2. Stroke and Turn Judge – watches all swimmers
during each events to make sure starts, stokes, turns
are done “legally”. He/she can disqualify (DQ) a
swimmer if necessary.
SUITS
In charge of ordering and distributing team bathing suits. Need 1 person.
RECORDS
Keeps the record board in the pool lobby up to date
with any times that are better than those currently on
board. Need 1 person.
PUBLICITY
A few articles and pictures should be submitted to the
Essex Reporter about TEST during the swim season. Need
1 person.
TREASURER
One to two people needed to keep our bank account.
League and State swim meets
All teams in the CVSL are assigned various jobs during the League and State swim meets. Each team is notified of their assignments in advance of these meets and they will be posted on the bulletin board in the pool lobby as soon as they are available. Please be looking for these requests for volunteers at the end of July and be sure to sign up.
8 AND UNDER MOM
To be in charge of 8 and under swimmers during meets
so they are aware of their events, know when to report
to events and to offer them encouragement and
direction. Need 2-3 people.
EVENT CARD HOLDER
Hands out event cards to swimmers throughout a swim
meet (every swimmer needs a card in order to
participate in each event). Good way to become
familiar with team members. Need 1 person but could be
shared.
RIBBONS
To distribute “Heat Winner” ribbons to the swimmers
coming in first after each heat in all events during a
home meet. (All four members of a relay would receive
a ribbon). Need 1 person but could be shared.
ADVERTISING
Need people to solicit ads from local businesses to
put in both the league meet and state meet programs.
Need 2-3 people.
SNACK BAR
Organize snack bar for fundraising purposes to be held
a t home meets in the snack bar area. Need at least 2

BULL PEN
Organize swimmers in one area of the pool deck
according to age, event and heat so the swim meet will
run in the intended order quickly and efficiently.
Need 2-3 people.
BANQUET
To plan and organize the final banquet for the swim
team and their families. Very casual, very fun. Done
after the season is complete. Need 3-4 people.
