HANSON D CHICK was born ca 1827-28 [based on age in 1850-60 censuses] or ca 1829 [age 33 in 1862], likely
the son of Noah and Mary (Hanson) Chick. He died 1 Jul 1875 [according to an online family tree], and was buried in the Smith
Cemetery in Shapleigh [YCCI, p1985].
He married, prior to 1857, a MEHITABLE (perhaps Smith).
She was born between 1833-34 [based on ages in 1860-70 censuses], and died after the 1870 census. She is perhaps buried with
husband in the Smith yard, one of the many graves marked with fieldstones.
Hanson was a house carpenter, seen as
such in the 1850 and 1870 censuses. Following his service with the 27th Maine, he reenlisted near the end of the war into
the 1st Battalion of Maine Infantry, from 5 Apr 1865 to 5 Apr 1866. He lived in Waterboro, the 1872 town map showing him in
District 3, near the Shapleigh border.
The following are perhaps this couple's children, seen with them in
census records:
I. WINFIELD D
II. ABRAM S
III. GEORGE H
IV. LEWIS B
V. ISABELLE
VI. MARY F
