deployment, or died during service. Unless noted in bio, the soldiers served a full term of service, which was from their
muster in date of 30 Sept, 1862 (the 19th for officers) to their mustering out on 17 July, 1863. Those few other
men enlisting in early October to top off the regiment's numbers are also noted on page.
Those names shown in blue are the 312 men listed in the "The
History of the Twenty-Seventh Regiment Maine Volunteer Infantry" by Lieut.Colonel James M Stone, published in 1895, as
having volunteered to stay behind to defend Washington, DC while rest of reg't returned to Portland.
