This website was created in memory of not only my great-great-great grandfather, James William Brown of Company G, but for all those who served alongside him for those 10 months in the 27th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment.

Genealogy, once just a hobby some 28 years ago (when I was only 11!!), seems to be more of a full-time thing these days. My main focus is New England research, and I am a member of NEHGS, Strafford County,NH Genealogical Society, York County Gen. Society, ME Gen Soc and NH Soc of Genealogists, MOCA and NHOGA (cemetery/graveyard associations of ME and NH), the Locke Family Association, and I am the president and historian for NALF (National Association of Leavitt Families). I am (very slowly) writing a genealogy on the descendents of John Amazeen of New Castle, NH, and am part of a project in rewriting the Leavitt genealogies (originally done in the 1940-50's).
