Mt. Ararat Archery Club, Topsham, Maine

1.  All shooting on the archery field will be controlled by the use of whistle commands and each archer will be responsible for knowing these commands:

a.     1 blast:    Fire (shooting is allowed)

b.    2 blasts:  Advance to the firing line (no shooting is allowed)

c.      3 blasts:  Cease firing and, when clear, advance forward and score

d.    4 or more blasts:  Emergency, Cease firing and REMAIN WHERE YOU ARE

2.  Shooting will be done in 3 arrow ends  – Maximum two shooting lines

a.  Shooting time is 40 seconds per arrow

b.  Total time for the 3 arrow end is 2 minutes (120 seconds)

3.  If Rotation is used, it will be: A-B, B-A, A-B, B-A, etc.

4.  Archers may NOT nock their first arrow until the signal to shoot (1 whistle blast)

5.  If you shoot an arrow before or after the time limit - you lose the HIGHEST scoring arrow

6.  When you have finished shooting, leave the shooting line immediately.  Unless you are finished, do NOT leave the shooting line without notifying a Judge or you will NOT be allowed back on line

7.  An arrow dropping from the bow shall be deemed to be NOT shot if it can be retrieved properly without moving the archer's feet

8.  If it is necessary to make some essential adjustments - notify the Judge (Raise bow over head) and extra time may be given

9.  While on the shooting line, NO assistance or information by word or otherwise, other than correcting an equipment failure (as reported to a Judge).

10. Right hand and left hand bows are in reference to the drawing arm NOT general use of right or left hands.  If you draw with your right arm, the right eye is closest to the string and is the eye used for aiming; therefore, eye dominance is the test for right or left hand bows.
