Labor Assistant

Doula - An experienced labor companion who provides continuous emotional support and assistance before, during, and after birth. Doulas have been shown to shorten first-time labors, decrease cesarean sections and the need for pain medication, help fathers participate with confidence, and lead to more successful breastfeeding relationships.

As your labor assistant, I will provide:

* A minimum of 2 pre-natal visits

* Help writing a birth plan

* Telephone and email support during your pregnancy and up through post-partum for any concerns that come up.

* 24 hour on call status two weeks before your "due date" and up to the birth of your baby.

* Professional labor support starting at your home or other birth place

* A post-partum visit in your home approximately a week after your birth to answer any questions you might have, to help process the birth, and ensure Mother and baby are recovering and adjusting well.

* A complimentary babywearing class and opportunity to try on and borrow a miriad of different baby carriers.

I am available to meet with all potential clients for an introduction meeting. There is no charge for this initial meeting and you will be under no obligation or pressure to use my services. During our initial meeting I will describe my services more fully and will answer any questions you may have to allow you to decide how I can best support your family. I am more than happy to work out a payment plan for you and am open to discussing trades and reduced fees if payment is an obstacle for you. Money should not be a barrier for you in having the support you deserve at your birth.
