Maine is well known for its involvement in the wars for our country's freedom. The more you look into the Revolutionary War and War of 1812, the more you find heroic stories of veterans and their fight for freedom. Patriots farming their fields one day and the next facing Napoleonic War Era British Soldiers with Rocket Boats. Maine is also known for its lost Cemeteries that once had family and friends to take care of them. These cemeteries now hundreds of years later, are forgotten and discarded to the ravages of time. With this book I intend to show that in these abandoned cemeteries there are our Country's Veterans, without flags and in some cases with broken stones, waiting to be remembered for their sacrifice, from a country they loved.

You may be asking yourself what a book on Veterans and the battles they fought bravely in and in some cases died for our freedom might have to do with a website focused on Maine Mysteries?
One of the greatest mysteries I have ever come across is why are these men forgotten?  Why are their stones abandoned, broken, or discarded?  Why in all the attention I have tried to draw to this incredible loss, does it still continue to occur?
I think it is a cause worth fighting for.  I believe they fought for our freedom, so someone should fight for their memory.
