                                            Biography
Melanie Therrien began her art education as a young student of Mercedes Gastongauy. Although she received instruction in various media, Melanie is primarily self-taught in her chosen medium of acrylics. She continues her education at Central Maine Community College.
Melanie has been painting commissions for her clients for over ten years, including works on canvas, murals, and a restaurant awning. When she paints for herself she enjoys making her own visions come alive working with a colorful pallette and a unique style that touches on realism. She creates her own worlds inspired by nature and some times calls attention to our human imprint on it. Her work has been shown in many Maine Galleries such as Gallery 5 in Lewiston, Turner Center for the Arts and Nettie Ricker Art Gallery in Poland Spring. In 2007 she began illustrating for Cape Cod Author J Bean Palmer. She also became the Curator for Captive Elements Art House in 2008 where she has been a part of helping Artists share their visions with others.

"The greatest experience one can have is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science."
                  Albert Eienstien 1879-1955
