Norm, on your enshrinement into the ASA Hall of Fame    Norm Davis is synonymous with 
the Amateur Softball Association in Maine and New England and across the United 
States. Norm has dedicated his life to promote ASA softball and the ASA umpire 
program and what a great addition he would make to the Amateur Softball 
Association Hall of Fame in the MeritoriousService Category.
 Norm began his umpire career in 1964 and has umpired in three ASA 
National Championships and all in the Major Divisions
 1981 Men’s Major Modified Pitch
 1984 Women’s Major Slow Pitch
 1987 Women’s Major Slow Pitch
 It should be pointed out that all these were appointed assignments 
as Norm believed that it is more important that rank and file umpires get 
assigned national tournaments rather than taking an assignment because you are a 
UIC..
 Norm was appointed as the Andy Valley Umpire in Chief in 1974 and 
in 1984 he was appointed the State of Maine UIC which he held for 15 years.
 In 1989 Norm was appointed to the National Umpire Staff 
representing Region 1, New England, a position he still holds.
 As a member of the National Umpire staff he has been the National 
Championship UIC for over 55 National Championships .
 Norm also represented the ASA as a clinician in 1997 in England, 
Germany, Italy, and Turkey for 3 weeks at Air Force bases.
 Norm has been an instructor in over 30 National Umpire Schools in 
29 states and has hosted 2 in Maine, He was also instrumental in having the 
first National school in Maine. He has hosted National rules clinics every other 
year since 1991 with the National Director of Umpires and many different 
National Staff members.
 He has given rules clinics all over the country, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Boston, 
Worcester, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Erie, and many more
 Among his other duties on the National Umpire Staff and as a 
Council member Norm has been Vice-chair of the Modified Pitch Committee, 
Vice-chair of the Playing Rules. Vice-chair of the Umpire Committee, He also 
serves on the Slow Pitch Playing Rules committee, He has been on the Seniors 
committee, Umpire Uniform Committee and other committees.
 He also combined and edited suggestions from the National Staff on 
rule checks for mistakes and omissions. He has submitted questions for the 
umpire rule test and case book plays.

 1997 Inducted into Auburn/Lewiston Sports Hall of Fame
 1998 Umpire Medals Program (Charter Member)
 1999 Appointed Deputy State Commissioner for Maine
 2002 Elected to the Elite Status umpire in the Modified division
 Norm retired from business where he was a plant manger for two shoe 
companies in 1989, He then attended college for three years nights and now works 
as an Educational Technician for a school department in Maine. He has worked 
with children with learning disabilities. He now works with students K-2.
 The State of Maine and New England has been honored and privileged 
to have Norm Davis as our National Umpire Staff Representative and the ASA 
program and umpires are better off because of him. Please help us honor him for 
his many years of dedication and service to ASA by electing him to the Amateur 
Softball Association Hall of Fame in the Meritorious Service Category
