Congratulation Norm, on your enshrinement into the ASA Hall of Fame

Norm Davis is synonymous with the Amateur Softball Association in Maine and New England and across the United States. Norm has dedicated his life to promote ASA softball and the ASA umpire program and what a great addition he would make to the Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame in the Meritorious
Service Category.
Norm began his umpire career in 1964 and has umpired in three ASA National Championships and all in the Major Divisions
1981 Men’s Major Modified Pitch
1984 Women’s Major Slow Pitch
1987 Women’s Major Slow Pitch
It should be pointed out that all these were appointed assignments as Norm believed that it is more important that rank and file umpires get assigned national tournaments rather than taking an assignment because you are a UIC..
Norm was appointed as the Andy Valley Umpire in Chief in 1974 and in 1984 he was appointed the State of Maine UIC which he held for 15 years.
In 1989 Norm was appointed to the National Umpire Staff representing Region 1, New England, a position he still holds.
As a member of the National Umpire staff he has been the National Championship UIC for over 55 National Championships .
Norm also represented the ASA as a clinician in 1997 in England, Germany, Italy, and Turkey for 3 weeks at Air Force bases.
Norm has been an instructor in over 30 National Umpire Schools in 29 states and has hosted 2 in Maine, He was also instrumental in having the first National school in Maine. He has hosted National rules clinics every other year since 1991 with the National Director of Umpires and many different National Staff members.
He has given rules clinics all over the country, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Boston, Worcester, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Erie, and many more
Among his other duties on the National Umpire Staff and as a Council member Norm has been Vice-chair of the Modified Pitch Committee, Vice-chair of the Playing Rules. Vice-chair of the Umpire Committee, He also serves on the Slow Pitch Playing Rules committee, He has been on the Seniors committee, Umpire Uniform Committee and other committees.
He also combined and edited suggestions from the National Staff on rule checks for mistakes and omissions. He has submitted questions for the umpire rule test and case book plays.

He has worked with children with learning disabilities. He now works with students K-2.
The State of Maine and New England has been honored and privileged to have Norm Davis as our National Umpire Staff Representative and the ASA program and umpires are better off because of him. Please help us honor him for his many years of dedication and service to ASA by electing him to the Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame in the Meritorious Service Category
