Just a little bit about my personal life......

My husband Matt and I have lived
in New Hampton since 1978 when we chose to make New Hampshire our home shortly after our marriage. My ancestors, Edward
and William Hilton, first came to New Hampshire from England on the Fortune in 1623 and are considered by some historians
to be the closest to who would be considered the “founders” of New Hampshire. We have two sons: our
eldest son, Jonathan and his wife Alisha have a daughter (Emily Nicole) and our youngest son is Christopher.
My husband is a local small business owner.
We belong to St. Agnes Catholic Church and
serve as ministers of hospitality.
In my relaxation time I enjoy floral design,
reading, being a Grandma, geneology and travel. I belong to the NH Federation of State Garden Clubs, The Dupuis Post
American Legion Auxiliary, and the Farm Bureau.

LEGISLATIVE CAREER
I have served ten years as a member of
the New Hampshire House of Representatives. In 2005, the Speaker of the House selected me to be the Deputy
Majority Leader on his leadership team. I am also on the Finance Committee where I am a member of the division
responsible for health care funding. I also served for nine years on the Health and Human Services and Elderly Affairs
Committee. When I lost my House seat with the last big Democrat sweep led by Jeanne Shaheen in 1996, Republican
Governor Steve Merrill nominated me to serve on the NH Board of Pharmacy. I was confirmed by the Executive
Council and served in the Executive Branch of our Government for five years representing the public's interest on that board.
I am a committed believer in the Republican core value that small government and frugal
spending is what allows less taxes. While in the New Hampshire House, I have sponsored legislation to require
replacement cost of a business when taken by eminent domain, to promote competition and reduce over regulation in health care,
and to advance the use of medical savings accounts for government employees. I am also a staunch advocate for lower
spending, less government and tax reform. I have served on the education funding committee of the Finance Committee
and fought to stop the unfairness of “DONOR TOWNS” in the state wide education tax. I support a constitutional
amendment that would enable the state to send additional funds to communities based on need without a state wide property
tax.

Legislative Organizations:
I have also served as New Hampshire
state director for Women in Government, a national organization of legislators. I am also a member of the American Legislative
Exchange Council, an organization dedicated to advancing the Jeffersonian principles of free markets, limited government,
federalism, and individual liberty, through a non partisan, public- private partnership between legislators and the private
sector.
I have received several
prestigious awards
The New Hampshire Business Council Award
as appreciation of my support to the NH business community during the 2004 legislative session
The New Hampshire Health Care Association
Award in appreciation of my support of health care issues, especially the long term care needs of our senior citizens.
I helped create the “nursing home assessment” program which will bring in an additional thirty-two million dollars
a year for the support of our county nursing home Medicaid beds. This directly reduced county property taxes!
In 2005 I was named a Blue Ribbon Legislator
by Cornerstone for my support of family values.
In 2006 I was awarded the New Hampshire
chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness "Legislator of the Year" Award.
In October of 2006 I was awarded the New Hampshire Health Care Association "Carl Johnson Legislative Award" in recognition
of my efforts to ensure the stability of long term care in New Hampshire.
