March 27, 2000 -- Day 18 -- Going home soon!
We went to see the doctor this afternoon. They took blood, but we won't have the results until tomorrow. The doctor asked Dave how he was feeling -- if he had any nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, fever, itchy eyes. No to all except the eyes. The doctor laughed when Dave said his eyes were dry. He said he asks that question as a joke when people keep saying no to all the other questions. He checked out Dave's eyes and said they were fine. Dry eyes is a side effect of the radiation. It will clear up eventually.
We go back for another visit on Thursday, then, if all is okay, we don't need to see the doctor until Monday, the 10th! So it looks like we'll be heading for Vermont on Friday!! WE CAN'T WAIT!!!
Aside from fatigue, Dave is doing well. He runs out of steam pretty quickly, but it's not unusual. His body is working hard to recover. And he's doing it quite well. The doctor told him he looks great.
So that's all that's new and exciting on our end. Sounds like Tuesday is going to be pretty rainy here -- a good day to stay in and take a nap.
