Gotta Have Gadgets-Spring Edition
Well, spring is finally here and that means one thing and one thing only for me, the beginning of golf season! Living
in New England isn't the best for someone like me who loves the game of golf, but I also love 3 of the 4 seasons (not a big
winter fan) so I can't complain.
Since golf season is here, I have two products, which are must haves for the new season. When it comes to golf, confidence
is the best thing a golfer can have on the course. The Bushnell Medalist Laser Rangefinder with Pinseeker and Heavy Putter
are two new gadgets that have found their way into my golf bag this year.
The Bushnell Medalist Laser Rangefinder with Pinseeker uses laser technology to give you exact yardage to the pin or any
hazard on the course. Hickory Hill in Methuen, MA is my favorite golf course; my only complaint over the years has been lack
of yardage markers. Not knowing how far away the green is or a water hazard adds strokes to your game. With the Bushnell
Medalist Laser Rangefinder, I can no longer complain on the course (which will make my foursome a lot happier) that I'm not
sure I have the right club. The Bushnell Medalist is very much like Bushnell binoculars, you look through the viewfinder,
look at an object, push a button and it tells you the exact distance to that marker. Honestly, this is the equivalent of
having your own caddie with a detailed notebook no matter where you are on the course. The added bonus of the Medalist is
it has the built-in &"pinseeker" technology. What this does is it allows you to focus in on the pin so you
don't get a false reading. You switch to &"pinsetter" mode and it will lock in on the pin and no other objects
around the green. The Medalist is accurate to within one yard! I wish my clubs were that accurate! It was rather funny
the first time I took the Medalist out of the holder, because the guys in my foursome gave me a hard time. Of course after
I used it a couple of times, everyone of them asked me to come over and let them know how far away they were. At one point
I went to get it from my bag and it was gone, I look around and there is my dad using the Medalist and putting it in his bag.
I guess I know what I will be getting him for Father's Day!
Now that I know how far away I am and I can get on the green, the next step is making the putt! Drive for show, putt
for dough! I have never been a very good putter, however the next &"Gotta Have Gadget" has helped me with that.
The Heavy Putter B-3 has made me a better putter. When I took this putter on the putting green, my first thought was I am
going to run every putt 5 feet by the cup with this thing. However, although the putter is heavy, there is still a tremendous
amount of feel. I mentioned above that confidence on the course is the best thing a golfer can have, and the Heavy Putter
does just that, gives you the confidence you need when you are standing over a putt. Especially when you are inside 10 feet,
which is where a lot of amateur golfers give up strokes. People spend $500 to $600 for a new driver that they will use only
14 times during a round. You can go out and buy a Heavy Putter and a Bushnell Medalist for under the cost of a new Nike driver.
You will use both of these far more than that new driver and lower your score. I haven't even played with the adjustable
weights on the Heavy Putter, but knowing I can is just another bonus of this club.
So if you want to lower you score this season go out today and buy the Bushnell Medalist Laser Rangefinder with Pinseeker
and a Heavy Putter. They won't make you the next Tiger Woods, but maybe they will help you win a couple extra bucks from
your friends! These two items are definitely "Gotta Have Gadgets"
