Shure SE310 Sound Isolating Earphones

Well I never attended a meeting, but I can envision it something like this, “Hello, my name is Mike and I have small ears!”  The nice part is, I have never been picked on because small ears aren’t as easy to pick on as big ears.  The problem with having tiny ears is I have never been able to enjoy my iPod without large bulky earphones.  Until now!  The Shure SE310 Sound Isolating Earphones were made for people like me, or at least that’s how they made me feel.

The Shure SE310 earphones come with an assortment of foam earpieces that Shure calls “sleeves”.  These sleeves vary in shapes and sizes.  As soon as I unpacked the box, I took out the earphones and knew these were for me.  The foam inserts are unlike the iPod earphones that are round and simply do not custom fit into your ears.  The iPod earphones either fit into your ears or like me, you had to go out and find different earphones.  Before I found the Shure earphones, I had noise canceling earphones that were large and bulky.  Like many people, I like to listen to my iPod before I go to bed, with these bulky earphones that was virtually impossible.  The Shure earphones custom fit into your ears so they are far more comfortable than the larger bulky earphones.

Now sure it’s nice that these earphones fit, but the biggest issue with any earphones is the sound quality.  The Shure SE310s are sound isolating earphones, which means it reduces outside sounds so you can focus on the audio.  That is a nice feature when you are on a plane or in bed trying to get some sleep, however there are limitations I tried to cut the lawn with these on and the sound of the lawnmower was too loud to isolate.  Just to be fair, the only earphones I have used to mow the lawn are my NASCAR scanner earphones that have a built in amplifier.  Getting back to the sound quality, these earphones are far superior to any in ear earphones I have tried, as well as some over the ear earphones.  The combination of sound isolating technology and superior audio quality brought out the music that I never new was in my iPod.  Shure (yes pun intended) I had listened to the music before, it just sounded so much better than with my other earphones.

So no matter what kind of music player or other portable audio device Shure SE310 Sound Isolating Earphones are definitely a “Gotta Have Gadget!”
