White Mountain Classics, LLC (WMC) is a small, modest, family-owned shop
operated by myself, Chet Matheson, certified gunsmith. I proudly offer my services with confidence from many years of experience, research,
study and a continuous honing of applied learning and skills.
My number one priority is first and foremost- DO NO HARM.
I provide professional gunsmithing services for a wide range of firearms,
from the early 1800's to post WW2. For the casual and serious collector, I specialize in detailed cleaning
restorations, woodwork & stockmaking, metalwork, custom refinishing, authentic restorations and repairs. Standard
services are widely varied and include aftermarket product installations, trigger tuning, scope mounting, flawlessly installed
recoil pads, shotgun chamber reaming with long forcing cones, parts replacement, modifications and much more.
I approach every firearm, especially rare and valuable antiques, as cherished
"tangible art" investments and will discuss all procedures, potential value risks and all relevant details with
the owner before work is even begun in order to assist in making informed decisions.
Over the years I have been very fortunate to accumulate hands-on experience
with hundreds of unique, early model, historically accurate, sometimes rare firearms. This experience has
taught that there is an art and a science for even basic disassembly. In fact, the vast majority of all older
firearms I have serviced have never been fully disassembled or cleaned in well over 100-150yrs. Extreme care and attention
to detail is of the utmost importance. My goal in all cleaning restoration procedures is to leave no evidence that a
gunsmith has touched the firearm.
Disassembly and cleaning restorations can greatly improve the appearance,
function and preservation of an original old beauty but make sure you entrust your valuable firearm to
an experienced, proven professional.
I will gladly service entire estate collections or individual firearms.
