This is Glen Sanders Mansion located in Scotia, NY. After a good night's rest and breakfast, I packed up my gear and headed out to take this shot. Then I hit the trail for Waterford. If you would like to take a look around the Mansion, click here. It's worth a looksee.

Smooth trail surfaces spoil me.

Lyons Park, Rosendale, NY ~ Met a nice couple resting at a picnic table a few yards in the opposite direction from this sign. They seemed a little amazed that a man, one week away from his 71st birthday, was about to become an Erie Canalway Trail End-to-Ender. Ate my last apple and finished off the pistachios while here.

In spite of this day being a Sunday, there was never any trail congestion ... anywhere.

Looking east along the Mohawk River, about to get a free ride thanks to gravity.

The downhill ride was refreshing and I continued to enjoy the paved riding conditions through wooded areas and a few tunnels as well. It was great until ... I missed another turn and paid dearly for that, too. Before I realized it, I found myself in Troy, south of Waterford. Stopping at a fire department proved beneficial and soon I was crossing the bridge leading me to the welcome center at 1 Tugboat Alley, Waterford, NY.

From the bike lane just to the right, I hollered, "Hey Tim." Though I did not see him, he heard me and looking up, saw me crossing the bridge.

Oh, happy day ... almost done ... just have to walk one block east to the Hudson River.

Walking the bike with Tim alongside, and just yards from the river, we encountered goose droppings all over the sidewalk. There were people sitting on benches to our left and a few folks fishing to our right, so I decided this was no time to behave. I spoke up, "Hey, that doesn't look like pigeon shit to me .... oh no ... that's goose shit ... I DON'T WALK IN GOOSE SHIT!" Oh, that brought out some chuckles, especially as I began exagerating my side stepping motions ... more chuckles and then .... from the background ... a female voice sounded ... "There's a man who knows his shit."
Friends, meet Donna Larkin.

What a total joy this woman is. She's not afraid to hug a sweaty senior citizen either.

See what I mean?
Donna, thank you for such a warm friendly welcome. I'm plugging your business right here.

We can also thank Donna for taking this, the last photo of my greatest cycling adventure.
Thanks, Donna.
